Frequently Asked Questions

What is Groupverse?

Groupverse is a free directory of WhatsApp and Telegram group and channel invite links, organized by category, country, and language, so you can discover active communities without needing an account. Instead of scrolling through outdated forum threads or expired social media posts hunting for a working link, you can browse a structured, searchable index and find groups that match your interests in seconds.

How do I join a WhatsApp group using a link?

Tap "Join Group" or "Follow" on any listing. This opens the invite link directly in WhatsApp or Telegram (or a browser prompt to open the app), where you can confirm joining. On mobile, this typically launches the app automatically; on desktop, you may be prompted to open WhatsApp Web or scan a QR code depending on your setup. Once you confirm, you'll appear in the group's member list according to that group's own visibility settings.

Do I need to create a Groupverse account to browse or join groups?

No. Groupverse does not require sign-up, login, or any account creation to browse listings or join a group or channel. You can explore categories, search, and click through to any invite link completely anonymously from our side. The only place we ask for information is the optional "Submit Group" form, and even that requires minimal detail.

Is it free to submit my group or channel?

Yes, standard listings are free. Optional paid add-ons like Priority Review, Verified Badge, or Sponsored placement are available if you want extra visibility — see the "Submit Group" button on the homepage for details. Priority Review simply moves your submission ahead in our moderation queue so it gets listed faster; it does not guarantee approval if the group doesn't meet our listing guidelines. A Verified Badge is intended to signal to visitors that we've done additional checks on the group's authenticity and activity level.

Why did a group link stop working?

WhatsApp and Telegram invite links can expire if the group hits its member limit, the admin resets the link, or the group is deleted. Admins sometimes reset links intentionally to control who joins, especially after a spam wave, which means a previously working link can go dead with no warning even though the group itself is still active under a new link. Report a broken link using the flag icon on the listing, or email abuse@groupverse.co.in, and we'll investigate whether the group has an updated link or should be removed entirely.

How often is the directory updated?

New groups and channels are submitted and reviewed daily by our team and community. We also run periodic checks on existing listings to catch dead links, but with tens of thousands of listings across categories, some staleness between checks is inevitable — which is exactly why the report/flag feature exists. The homepage counter reflects the current total of active listings after removals.

Does Groupverse moderate the groups themselves?

We review submissions before listing them, checking that the category tag matches the group's stated purpose and that the description doesn't violate our content guidelines. However, we don't control or monitor ongoing activity inside third-party groups after they're listed — what happens in a group's day-to-day conversation is governed by that group's own admins and by WhatsApp's or Telegram's platform rules, not by Groupverse. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for details on how we handle listings and what responsibilities fall to third-party group admins versus us.

How do I report an inappropriate group?

Use the report (flag) icon on any listing, or email abuse@groupverse.co.in. We aim to review reports within 48 hours. When reporting, it helps to include the specific reason (dead link, spam, inappropriate content, mismatched category, impersonation, etc.) so our moderation team can prioritize and resolve it accurately. Listings confirmed to violate our guidelines are removed promptly and are not relisted without a fresh review.

Is my phone number or identity visible when I join a group?

In a WhatsApp Group, your phone number and profile photo may be visible to other members depending on your own WhatsApp privacy settings — this is standard WhatsApp behavior and applies to any group you join, not just ones found through Groupverse. In a WhatsApp Channel, your identity remains hidden since channels are one-way broadcasts and you don't appear in a visible member list. If you're concerned about visibility, review your WhatsApp privacy settings (Settings → Privacy) before joining larger or public-facing groups.

What's the difference between joining a Group and following a Channel?

Joining a Group makes you a participant who can read, send messages, and interact with other members in real time. Following a Channel simply subscribes you to receive one-way broadcast updates from the channel owner — you can't post or reply within the channel itself, though many channels link out to a companion group for discussion. Listings on Groupverse are tagged accordingly so you know which experience to expect before clicking through.

Can a group I join later become inactive or get deleted?

Yes. Group activity depends entirely on the admins and members involved, and communities can go quiet, get repurposed, or be deleted at any time — this is outside Groupverse's control since we only index links rather than host the groups ourselves. If you find a group has gone silent or been deleted after joining through our listing, flagging it helps us keep the directory accurate for future visitors.

Can I remove my own group listing later?

Yes. If you submitted a group and later want it removed — whether because the group closed, changed purpose, or you simply changed your mind — email us at abuse@groupverse.co.in with the listing link and we'll take it down. Removal requests from the original submitter are typically processed quickly since no additional verification is usually needed beyond confirming ownership of the group.

Does Groupverse charge anything to join a listed group?

No. Joining any group or channel listed on Groupverse is completely free. We never charge visitors to browse the directory or click through to a listing. If a specific group's admin asks for payment to join or stay in their community, that is a decision made independently by that group and is unrelated to Groupverse — proceed with caution and verify legitimacy before sending money to anyone in a group chat.
